Wow...what a year this has been! We are already halfway through the year and I still feel like I'm getting warmed up. The last month has felt like a rocket booster has been lit and I'm along for the ride now. My theme for 2010 has been "Knock It Out Of the Park" and I and many of my clients have been doing just that! Stepping Up In case you hadn't noticed...the writing has been on the wall for a while now. Whether it's the present day socio-political shifts, the spiritual transitions being foretold with 2012 or the advent of the Aquarian Age, the economic realities of the Great Recession or your own personal life change one thing has become absolute clear. It is time to step up and share your full potential with the world. Now this may sound a little blatant but the real question is not about the how's or the why's. The real question is about what is holding you back. If you are like most people then there are typical answers to what might be in your way. Some of those answers might sound familiar:
When you read this list you are probably either thinking "Yeah, those are real concerns" or "Gosh...they sounds kind of silly when you put it that way!" No matter whether you have one of those responses or something else the truth is almost everyone feels challenged by some of these fear based questions at some point or another. Maybe you only experience these fears for a few seconds or maybe they've got you so paralyzed that you stay stuck in inaction. Experiencing fear, confusion, concern, indecision and anticipation are all part of being human. The object in stepping up isn't to eliminate fear...but to recognize it for what it really is and then use it for moving forward. Fear is just a guide to what is powerful and positive. Viewed from another angle fear is just the opposite side of bliss. Both fear and bliss can be powerful and exhilarating. Each can create massive opportunity and transformation in your life and each can bring intense energy with it as well. But how does fear relate to stepping forward? Well one of the biggest fear inducers for most people is the unknown. Take a look at the list of fear questions noted above again. Each of them is about what is unknown or assumed to be true without validation. Each of these questions is a representation of a limitation that has been placed upon you by your own mind or perhaps by some outside influence. Instead of being stopped by these fears you use them to your advantage. In order to do that you are going to have to take a few small steps. 1. Make a list of everything you would like to see manifested in your life. As you make this list let go of any idea of limitation. Keep your focus on the emotional, social and spiritual desires you have. Include such items as family, relationships, lifestyle choices, emotional states and other simple and direct desires. This list is not about concrete specifics such as how much money you make. See if you can make this list as complete and comprehensive as possible. 2. Ponder this list for at least 1 day but not more than 2 weeks During this time of pondering ask yourself this simple question: "How would I feel if everything on this list was true?" While you are pondering this question notice what fears come up for you. Do you hear any of those questions already discussed? How can you view those questions differently with the perspective of your new list? What would happen if you simply decided to use those fears as motivation for getting the support and taking the action you needed? 3. Make a list of 5 actions you could take that would begin moving you towards these results By making this list of action steps you put into concrete reality how you could move forward. In some cases this might be all the motivation you need. In other cases you might still need support in moving forward. Part of stepping up is admitting you can't do everything by yourself. So take the plunge! Make your lists, ponder your questions and get the support you need. Because the world is done waiting for you to decide you are good enough and worthy it already knows you are and is ready to show you the results when you finally believe it too!
